Correction to: Journal of Anesthesia https://doi.org/10.1007/s00540-020-02875-8

In the original publication of the article, under the section “Validity of diagnostic tests”, the proportion of specificity was published incorrectly. The correct proportion should read as below,

$$ {\text{Specificity }} = \frac{{\text{Number of people without a disease who tested negative}}}{{\text{Total number of people without a disease}}} \times 100\% $$

In addition, under the section “Validity of diagnostic tests”, the following sentence “Reported sensitivity of currently available RT-PCR kits is in the range of 70–98% [10, 11], and sensitivity 95–99.7%.” was published incorrectly. The correct sentence should read as “Reported sensitivity of currently available RT-PCR kits is in the range of 70–98% [10, 11], and specificity 95–99.7%.”

Further, under the section “Influencing factor on predictive values”, the year was published incorrectly as 2000 in the following sentence “Therefore, the active case at this moment (in October 2000) may be estimated to be somewhere between 6000 and 100,000.”

The correct year is 2020 and the sentence should read as “Therefore, the active case at this moment (in October 2020) may be estimated to be somewhere between 6000 and 100,000.”
