The authors would like to correct the errors in the publication of the original article. The correction details are given below:
The correct research target year was 2015 and not 2014 in all the occurrences except reference 1.
The last sentence in the first paragraph under the heading “Methods” should read as “The survey, which used a self-administered questionnaire, was conducted between December 2015 and March 2016.”.
The fifth sentence in the first paragraph under the heading “Discussion” should read as “The results of these two surveys indicate an almost tenfold increase in patients with IBD over the span of 24 years.” and the first sentence in the last paragraph should read as “Despite these limitations, our study showed that UC and CD are currently more prevalent in Japan than 24 years ago.”.
The first sentence under the heading “Conclusions” should read as “The estimated number of patients with UC and CD in Japan has risen substantially over the past 24 years.”
