Summary

Taking the mid 18th century as a starting point, periodic waves of technological innovation have influenced the history. In this paper the author focuses on the actual technology cycle that is characterised by an "information technology revolution". Three disruptive digital technologies are marking the so-called information age: silicon chip, optical fibre, and software controlled wireless.

Ausgehend von den Technologiezyklen, in welchen sich die Entwicklung der Technik, Wirtschaft und Industrie seit der Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts manifestiert, betrachtet der Autor den aktuellen Zyklus näher, der von der Informationstechnik bestimmt wird. Drei disruptive digitale Technologien prägen diesen aktuellen Zyklus: der Sizilium-Chip, die Glasfaser sowie die drahtlose Funkübertragung.
