Das Trauma und Austerlitz

Zusammenfassung

Das Thema Trauma und dissoziativer Zustand stellt eine erneute Rückbesinnung des psychoanalytischen Denkens dar: Seit etwa zwanzig Jahren weckt das Problem der traumatischen Gedächtnisinhalte erneut unsere Aufmerksamkeit. Das Trauma ruft eine Desorganisation der psychischen Funktionen hervor; diese kann je nach Kompromittierung der Fähigkeiten, zu mentalisieren und Affekte zu regulieren, unterschiedlich schwerwiegend ausfallen. Infolgedessen verbleiben traumatische Erinnerungen als nichtassimilierte Inhalte im Körper und in der Psyche des Patienten, losgelöst von anderen mentalen Funktionen. Was die Dissoziation betrifft, so erkennen wir das Verdienst von Pierre Janet an, eine komplexe und wissenschaftlich gültige Theorie dessen formuliert zu haben, was er als „désagrégation“ bezeichnete, das heißt eine Störung der Integrationsfähigkeit, die eine mentale Fragmentierung auf mehreren Ebenen beinhaltet: vom Defizit des Bewusstseinsfeldes bis zur Beeinträchtigung der Einheit der Persönlichkeit des Individuums selbst. In letzterem Falle beziehen wir uns auf ein strukturelles Versagen, das durch überwältigende Emotionen aufgrund traumatischer Erfahrungen hervorgerufen wird.

In unserer Arbeit behandeln wir das Thema Trauma und Dissoziation anhand des literarischen Textes Austerlitz von W.G. Sebald.

Abstract

The topic of trauma and the dissociative state represents a renewed reflection of psychoanalytic thinking: for approximately 20 years the problem of traumatic memory content has once again attracted our attention. The trauma elicits a disorganization of mental functions, which can vary in severity depending on the compromising of abilities to mentalize and regulate affects. As a result, traumatic memories remain as unassimilated contents in the patient’s body and psyche detached from other mental functions. With respect to dissociation, we recognize the achievement of Pierre Janet for having formulated a complex and scientifically valid theory of what he called “désagrégation”, i.e., a disorder of the capacity for integration that involves a mental fragmentation on several levels: from the deficit of the field of consciousness up to the impairment of the unity of the personality of the individual himself. In the latter case we are referring to a structural failure that is evoked by overwhelming emotions due to traumatic experiences.
