In the original publication, unpublished equilibrium crystallisation experiments were erroneously included, and therefore improperly cited, in the calibration dataset. We would like to gratefully acknowledge 10 unpublished experiments from Dr. Elena Melekhova on water-saturated high-alumina basalt. Complete details of these experiments will be published in full elsewhere.
The reference column in Online Resource 2 has been amended to reflect this error.
It may be noted that published results and conclusions as stated in the original paper are not affected by the present erratum.
