Abstract.

In order to study the fetal femoral artery resistance index throughout gestation, 221 Doppler examinations of the femoral and umbilical arteries were performed between 13 and 40 weeks gestation. Femoral artery Doppler waveforms showed a pattern of high resistance throughout gestation while the umbilical index decreased progressively. In fetuses with normal growth, high femoral flow resistance indices are physiological.
