Zusammenfassung

Wir berichten über einen Patienten, bei welchem vor 28 Jahren eine Starr-Edwards-Kugelprothese in Aortenposition implantiert wurde und jetzt ein Bruch des Käfig vermutet wurde. Es werden die Protheseneigenheiten der ersten Modelle der Starr-Edwards-Kugelprothesen diskutiert.

Summary

We report the case of a patient with suspected strut failure of a 28 year old Starr-Edwards aortic prosthesis. The physical characteristics of the former Starr-Edwards ball prosthesis are discussed.
