Abstract

Postoperative retention of a foreign body is a rare but well-recognized complication. We present a case of a video-assisted thoracoscopic extraction of an intrathoracic injection tube in a 79-year-old man 5 years after an uneventful cardiac bypass. The pertinent literature is reviewed and the surgical methods to retrieve such foreign bodies and possible complications are discussed.
