Zusammenfassung

Regulatorische T-Zellen bilden einen Forschungsschwerpunkt auf dem Gebiet der Autoimmunität. Neuere Ergebnisse zeigen jedoch, dass proinflammatorische TH1-Zellen selbst wichtige immunregulatorische Funktionen ausüben. Dieser physiologische Selbstkontrollmechanismus besitzt großes therapeutisches Potenzial.

Abstract

Regulatory T cells are in the focus of research on autoimmunity. However, recent findings suggest that pro-inflammatory TH1 cells themselves exert important immunoregulatory functions. This physiological self-limiting mechanism holds great promise for therapeutic interventions.
