Abstract

Acute abdomen is a symptom complex that can mask not only numerous minor illnesses, but can also numerous life-threatening disorders. Every patient with acute abdomen must be treated as quickly as possible after diagnostics have been performed. The critical care physician is important for timely diagnosis and decision-making. In order to guarantee and improve adequate management of acute abdomen, an interdisciplinary team is essential.
