Abstract
Organic psychoseswith qualitative and quantitativedisturbances of consciousness arecommonplace in the context ofcritical care medicine. Intensivistsrarely communicate in a generallyaccepted and proper nomenclature.The paper attempts to describea simple yet proper usageof psychopathological terms inorganic psychosis in a historicalcontext and to propose a practicalsystem for describing these symptoms.

In der Intensivmedizinsind organischePsychosyndrome mit quantitativenund qualitativen Bewusstseinsstörungenregelmäßig anzutreffen.Nur wenige Intensivmedizinerbenutzen dabei eine allgemeinakzeptierte und korrekteAusdrucksweise für die verschiedenenSyndrome. Es wird versucht,eine einfache und verständlicheNomenklatur der organischenPsychosyndrome in ihrerhistorischen Entwicklung darzustellenund eine praktikable Ausdrucksweisefür diese Symptomezu unterbreiten.
