Abstract
Dystonia is a rare disease of childhood, often leading to dev-astating functional impairment. Medical treatment is reviewed, although its efficacy is often limited. Recent advances in functional neurosurgery have opened up a new field in the management of dystonic patients, and the results of deep brain stimulation are given particular emphasis.
