Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I read with interest the article “Historical aspects of the foundation of the Latin American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery” [1] and I congratulate the author on the extenuating work of compiling the historical facts described. However, some details concerning the Cordoba’s Meeting in April 2001 have to be corrected: by the time of this meeting, I was the President of the Brazilian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (SBNPed), elected on March 17, 2001, 1 month before the Argentinian event [2]. As a matter of fact, I nominated Dr. Da Cunha, the Brazilian Delegate, to this very Meeting since I was unable to attend it. Later on, Dr. Da Cunha was elected President of SBNPed for the 2015–2017 term [2].

I would also like to emphasize the role of the Latin American Courses of Pediatric Neurosurgery, not mentioned in the text. These were of utmost importance for education and insertion of many Latin American neurosurgeons in the international scenario. Since 2004, these courses were organized and supported from the SBNPed, European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ESPN), Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery (SBN), Federation of the Latin American Societies of Neurosurgery (FLANC), and their, by the time, incipient Pediatric Chapter.

The author should be congratulated for a work we hope will continue.
