Book Review

The book “Mathematical statistics” is an English version of the authors’ book published in 2016 in German language (Rasch and Schott 2016). It is a very well written and readable book which covers all important topics from mathematical statistics. Some topics discussed in the book are supplemented by new results published in the last decade or provided by relevant information about them. Some of these results are about the suitability of the two-sample t test for practical applications, sequential triangular tests of a correlation coefficient’s null hypothesis and their approximation quality, and properties of completely balanced incomplete block designs. The book contains around 130 illustrative examples and more than 90 exercises which is impressive. Many of these examples are supported by R and SPSS codes. I have enjoyed reading it and in my opinion, this book is very useful for graduate students as well as for advanced statisticians.
