Rotational dynamics in methane hydrate

Abstract.

We performed neutron spectroscopy and neutron-diffraction experiments on both natural and laboratory-made methane hydrates. The experiments focussed on the rotational dynamics and the orientational scattering density of the encaged methane molecules. The measurements are accompanied by calculations of the rotational potentials on the basis of a simple electrostatic model of the orientational interactions.
