Gradient porous alumina films with different pore distributions by anodization of aluminum

Abstract

In this paper, gradient porous alumina films with different pore distributions are fabricated by asymmetrical anodization of Al foils. When an insulating baffle is inserted close to the anode, depending on the shape of the baffle, the current density distribution on the Al foils can be varied. Two kinds of porous alumina films with different pore distributions are fabricated by this method. This bottom-up approach of asymmetrical anodization of Al foil provides us with a low-cost method to fabricate large-size gradient porous structures with different pore distributions.
