Abstract

Cobalt oxide nanoparticles in different phases have been synthesized using an inorganic precursor via thermal decomposition route for the first time. Using appropriate annealing conditions nanoparticles of different sizes were synthesized. The nanoparticles were characterized for their size and structure using x-ray and electron diffraction and transmission electron microscopy techniques. Particle size dependent band gap were obtained using optical transmission measurements. The details of synthesis, growth kinetics, and characterization of the nanoparticles are reported in this paper.
