Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund

Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) fordert seit mehr als 10 Jahren, die Rehabilitation breiter aufzustellen. Das führte dazu, dass im internationalen Kontext der Facharzt für Physikalische und Rehabilitative Medizin (PRM) als Fachmann für funktionsmedizinische Aspekte im Akutkrankenhaus wesentliche Versorgungaufgaben übernimmt. In Deutschland ist das anscheinend weniger stark ausgeprägt. Dieser Beitrag zeigt, in welchen Bereichen die Kompetenz des PRM-Facharztes bereitgehalten wird.

Material und Methoden

Über eine standardisierte Literaturrecherche in Kombination mit einer Individualsuche konnten durch einen geeigneten Auswahlprozess 59 Veröffentlichungen gefunden und besprochen werden.

Ergebnisse

Im internationalen Kontext ist der Facharzt für PRM breit vertreten. Neben neurologischen, muskuloskeletalen und geriatrischen Einheiten sind die PRM-Fachärzte auch in der Pädiatrie und anderen Akuteinrichtungen vertreten. In Deutschland sind sowohl die Umsetzung der Forderungen der WHO als auch die Etablierung der PRM-Kolleginnen und Kollegen im Akutkrankenhaus weniger oft zu finden.

Schlussfolgerungen

Die Fachärzte für PRM müssen in ihren Arbeiten, die durchaus wissenschaftlich hochwertig sind, exponierter auftreten und ihr Fachgebiet deutlicher darstellen.

Abstract

Background

For more than 10 years, the World Health Organization (WHO) has been calling for a broader approach to rehabilitation. In the international context, this has led to specialists in physical and rehabilitative medicine (PM&R) taking on essential care tasks as specialists for functional medical aspects in acute hospitals. In Germany, this appears to be less pronounced. This study shows the areas in which PM&R specialist expertise is provided.

Material and methods

Using a standardized literature search in combination with individual searches, 59 papers were found and discussed using a suitable selection process.

Results

In an international context, specialists in PM&R are well represented. In addition to neurological, musculoskeletal, and geriatric units, PM&R specialists are also represented in pediatrics and other acute facilities. In Germany, both implementation of the WHO requirements and establishment of PM&R colleagues in acute hospitals are less common.

Conclusions

Specialists in PM&R must become more prominent in their work, which is of high scientific quality, and present their specialty more clearly.
