Abstract

The differential diagnosis of painful functional disorders of the trunk, i.e. the thorax and the abdomen, is very broad also with regard to the acuity and possible consequences. Manual medical diagnostics can provide a valuable contribution to the differentiation of structural and functional pathology. In the following article manual medical syndromes are introduced, which summarize the local findings of the muskuloskeletal (locomotor) and the visceral systems. This facilitates the primary differential diagnosis and the therapeutic approach. The combination with osteopathic methods is very profitable. A specialist differential diagnosis is indispensible.
