Zusammenfassung
Hintergrund
Abstract
Background
Provocation of muscular pain syndromes due to an upright stance is associated with nonoptimal development of the static stereotype (posture). The causes leading to development of muscular pain syndromes in patients with this nonoptimal posture are addressed in this contribution.
Patients and methods
A total of 100 patients of working age in whom pain was provoked by an upright stance were investigated. Both computed tomography and visual diagnostics were employed.
Results
The nonoptimal static stereotype can be considered an “arrested fall” of the patient’s body. The regional postural muscle imbalance can be either of pathogenetic significance (leading to the patient’s fall) or of sanogenetic significance (resulting in arrest of this fall). Muscular pain syndromes are a reaction of the organism to the compensatory biomechanical overload.
Conclusions
Manual therapy should be directed at eliminating the regional postural imbalance of pathogenetic significance. The results of its effective application are the disappearance of the compensatory overload and muscle shortening in the regions of sanogenetic significance and thus the pain syndrome itself.
