Abstract
In order to examine the combined appearance of dysplasia in the craniocervical region in patients with dental aplasy, the lateral X-rays of 95 children were analyzed. Hypoplasia of the posterior arch of the atlas were found in 55% of all male and 62% of all female patients. Because of hypoplasia of this kind are frequently combined with shape variants of the lumbar, pelvic and hip region, an extended orthopedic (postural) diagnostic evaluation should be considered, if there is a corresponding (family) anamnesis or if there are corresponding clinical findings.
