Vorteil und Nutzen einer interdisziplinären stationären Rehabilitation Ein Fallbeispiel

Zusammenfassung

Bei einer 25-jährigen kaufmännischen Angestellten bestand nach zweimaligem HWS-Distorsionstrauma trotz intensiver ambulanter Maßnahmen ein hartnäckiger Verlauf in Form eines chronischen zervikovertebralen bzw. zervikospondylogenen Syndroms rechts. Aufgrund des protrahierten Verlaufs und drohender lang andauernder Arbeitsunfähigkeit wurde die Indikation für eine intensive stationäre Rehabilitation mit interdisziplinärer Betreuung gestellt.

Anhand eines Fallbeispiels soll gezeigt werden, dass bei protrahierten Verläufen eine intensive stationäre Rehabilitation in einer dazu spezialisierten Klinik vielversprechend sein kann. Mit einer engmaschigen interdisziplinären Betreuung kann das Rehabilitationspotential voll ausgeschöpft werden. Damit kann einer länger andauernden und mit hohen Folgekosten verbundenen Arbeitsunfähigkeit Einhalt geboten werden.

Abstract

We present a case report of a 25-year-old female secretary, who was involved in two car accidents within 1 year. After the first accident the patient recovered totally within 3 months from a whiplash injury. After a second whiplash injury the patient suffered from persistent neck pain despite intensive physical therapy. After 3 weeks of a multidisciplinary inpatient rehabilitation program the situation improved significantly. The patient was almost free of pain and cervical spine function was restored. We think that patients should be considered relatively early for an intensive inpatient rehabilitation program in cases with prolonged histories of persistent pain and unsuccessful outpatient physical therapy. Despite the high costs involved at first sight for an inpatient program the length of the sick leave can be reduced, which will result in less expense in the long term.
