Multiplicity distributions in quantum chromodynamics with an inactivation mechanism of parton cascades

  • Published:
Zeitschrift für Physik C Particles and Fields

Abstract

Equations of the perturbative quantum chromodynamics (PQCD) in the modified leading log approximation for generating functions of the multiplicity distributions (GFMD) are extended by introducing the inactivation mechanism for parton cascades. The precise form of this inactivation term, respecting both the tree-like structure of the PQCD and the energy conservation, follows from the exact analogy between the PQCD equations and the general nonequilibrium and the conservative fragmentation-inactivation binary process in the limit of no inactivation The inactivation term of the extended PQCD for the GFMD, provides a phenomenological prescription to include certain aspects of hadronization in the PQCD approach to the problem of multiplicity distributions in high-energy e+e collisions.
