Zusammenfassung

In der Theorie Erik H. Eriksons wird autobiografischen Erinnerungen im Alter ein hoher Stellenwert beigemessen. Die auf dieser Sicht aufbauende Lebensrückblicktherapie ist inzwischen ein wesentlicher Ansatz in der Alterspsychotherapie. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird der spezifische Beitrag der psychodynamischen Psychotherapie für die biografische Arbeit mit älteren Patienten herausgearbeitet. Ausgehend von Befunden der Gedächtnispsychologie, ergänzt durch bindungstheoretische Überlegungen, wird auf die Bedeutung der narrativen Komponente in der Psychotherapie Älterer hingewiesen.

Abstract

In Erik H. Erikson’s theory autobiographical memories in old age are very important. Life review therapy based on this viewpoint has meanwhile become an important approach for psychotherapy with the aged. In this article the specific contribution of psychodynamic psychotherapy to biographical work with older patients is elaborated. Based on the findings of memory psychology, supplemented by considerations of attachment theory, the significance of the narrative component in the psychotherapy of older patients is pointed out.
