Dear Anatomists and Clinicians,

2023 is over: it has been a great year for Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy. The number of submissions increased, not so far from 900, versus about 700 in 2022.

We sincerely thank the authors who chose our journal for publishing in the fields of anatomical sciences, clinical anatomy and education.

Of course, this could not have been possible without the huge work of the Associate Editors and Reviewers to whom we express once more our deepest gratitude.

We would like to especially address our warmest thanks to Pr Stéphane Velut, anatomist and neurosurgeon, who just stopped his so valuable activity as Associate Editor in charge of the section Central Nervous System, after so many years of constant and so precious availability.

The contents of this first 2024-issue present two parts: the first one is devoted to the eyeball and the orbit, the second one concerns the limbs and the vascular system.

In the first part, special attention has been paid to various anatomic structures surrounding the eyeball, by means of both very traditional ways such as dry human skulls and cadaveric studies, and modern imaging techniques including Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Angiography.

Regarding the ongoing year, it is also our pleasure to announce the location of the future IFAA congress to be held in Gwangju (Republic of South Korea) in September 2024.

The field of clinical anatomy will be represented in its important place as a constant bridge between basic research and clinical application, and special sessions about research and publishing are scheduled.

We wish all of you a very happy New Year 2024.

F Duparc and B Grignon.
