We are pleased to announce that Sherry Wren, MD, will serve as the next associate editor for oncological and gastrointestinal surgery submissions at the World Journal of Surgery. Dr. Wren has served on the editorial board for six years.

Dr. Wren is a Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Director of Global Surgery at the Center for Innovation and Global Health at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. She is the current Secretary of the American College of Surgeons and has served in leadership roles in numerous academic surgical societies. Her clinical and research interests are primarily in robotic gastrointestinal surgery, heath services research, global surgery, and humanitarian care in conflict zones. She is the author of over 175 publications, numerous book chapters, and received international awards for her contributions. She completed a term as Honorary Clinical Professor in the Centre for Neurosciences and Trauma at the Blizard Institute within Barts Cancer Institute at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London, and currently serves as Professor Extraordinary at the Centre for Global Surgery, Department of Global Health.
