We are pleased to welcome Dr David Hughes of the USA, who has joined the WJS editorial board and will serve in the area of endocrine surgery. He was raised in Wichita, Kansas, USA. He obtained his medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed general surgery residency training at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and the Norman W. Thompson Endocrine Surgery Fellowship at the University of Michigan. He is an Associate Professor of Surgery and the Program Director of the Surgery Residency at the University of Michigan. His clinical interests are in thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal surgery, and his research is focused on surgical outcomes in endocrine surgery and surgical education. During college, he worked as a plumber to pay tuition, and he helped build a new children’s hospital, where he later rotated as a medical student.
