We are pleased to announce that Dileep N. Lobo, MD will serve as the next associate editor for hepatopancreatobiliary surgery submissions with a primary focus on the liver at the World Journal of Surgery. Prof. Lobo has served on our WJS editorial board for eleven years.

Dileep N. Lobo, MB BS, MS, DM, FRCS, FACS, FRCPE is a Professor of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Consultant Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgeon at the University of Nottingham and Nottingham University Hospitals, UK. He qualified from Bangalore University, India, and has trained in Chandigarh, Nottingham and Leicester. He was awarded a DM degree with distinction by the University of Nottingham for his work on fluid and electrolytes and is a recipient of the Sir David Cuthbertson Medal for his contributions to the field of Nutrition and Metabolism. He is a recipient of the prestigious James IV Society of Surgeons Traveler’s Award, the Moynihan Fellowship from the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland and the Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His clinical interests focus on surgery of the pancreas and biliary tree. His research interests include surgical nutrition and metabolism, fluid and electrolyte balance, perioperative care and pancreatic cancer. He has published over 320 peer-reviewed articles and currently has an ISI H-index of 66 (80 on Google Scholar) and an I10 of 192. He is Associate Editor of Clinical Nutrition. He was awarded the Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons and was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. He is Chair of the Scientific Committee of the ERAS Society and has been Chair of the Scientific Committee the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN). He has been Honorary Secretary of the Society of Academic and Research Surgery and President of the International Association for Surgical Metabolism and Nutrition. He is the current President of the Surgical Research Society.
