Septic arthritis in Western and sub-Saharan African children - a review

Abstract

This article reviews what is known about the incidence, aetiology, presentation, bacteriology and management of septic arthritis in children. It compares where possible the different presentations and characteristics of this condition in the Western and sub-Saharan African regions.

Cet article est une revue de ce qui est connu sur l’incidence, l’étiologie, la présentation, la bactériologie et le traitement de l’arthrite septique chez l’enfant. Il compare les différentes caractéristiques de ces arthrites entre les pays de l’ouest et les pays sub-sahariens.
