Abstract

Xeroderma pigmentosum is a rare recessive autosomal disease, which is characterised by photosensitivity and pigmentation anomalies with sunlight exposure resulting from a defect in the DNA repair mechanism. Surgical excision of the lesions followed by full-face chemical peeling and dermabrasion was accomplished in the same operative session in 11 patients. This treatment protocol is thought to provide effective prophylaxis against malignant degeneration.
