Abstract:

In this paper we introduce the concept of s-sequences in order to study the symmetric algebra of a module. It is explained how s-sequences are related to d-sequences. The theory is applied to study the symmetric algebra of generic modules. We also compute the Gröbner basis of the defining ideals of these symmetric algebras.
