Abstract

Inverted papilloma is a primary benign neoplasm of the parananasal sinus. Complete surgical removal is the therapy of choice due to local destruction and the risk of malignant transformation. Internal carotid artery trauma is a rare complication of paranasal sinus surgery. A case of a fatal arterial hemorrhage during endoscopic sinus surgery in a 77-year-old woman which resulted in a subdural hemorrhage is presented and discussed.
