Abstract
The year 1901 saw two trail-blazing publications which ushered in the era of forensic serology. Paul Uhlenhuth presented the precipitation reaction for identification of species and Karl Landsteiner discovered the AB0 properties of human blood groups. This paper, written in commemoration of the dual anniversary, provides a retrospective view of the early days of forensic serological investigation methods.
