Abstract

The measurement of intra-industry trade allows for the separation of horizontal from vertical intra-industry trade using thresholds to categorize different types of trade. Using product-level data on Canada–United States international trade and corresponding cross-industry determinants, this study tests the sensitivity of these thresholds finding that previous studies may have incorrectly specified the measurement of intra-industry trade.
