Abstract.

The aim of the present paper is to discuss the problem of the optimal choice of nonsymmetric Mises truss parameters with respect to the time of, successively, brittle, ductile and mixed (by Kachanov’s theory) creep rupture. The results of optimization with respect to brittle creep rupture coincide with elastic solutions, while for ductile creep rupture there is no optimum, the longest life-time is obtained for truss reduced to one bar. Kachanov’s mixed rupture theory makes it possible to find continuous transition from solutions for brittle to ductile rupture.
