Abstract

Suture repair systems such as the Meniscal Cinch® (Arthrex), Fast-Fix® (Smith & Nephew), RapidLoc®, (Mitek) and MaxFire® (Biomet) comprise the third generation of implants for meniscus repair. They are loaded with non-absorbable braided sutures and can be used in an all-inside technique. A correct medial and lateral portal access is required to allow sufficient meniscus repair without damaging the cartilage. Chronic meniscus lesions present complex tears and frequently require resection. These should be partially resected and the meniscus periphery stabilized with vertical sutures, because the periphery is the most important part of the meniscus for femorotibial load transfer.
