Molekularpathologische Infektionsdiagnostik in der Geburtshilfe

Zusammenfassung

Die klinische Pathologie hat in den vergangenen Jahren zahlreiche Methoden der Molekularbiologie an die wissenschaftlichen und diagnostischen Fragestellungen des Fachgebietes adaptiert*. Nach der Einführung der Immunhistologie vor etwa 20 Jahren, die zur Immunphänotypisierung der Gewebsveränderungen führte und heute als Standard anzusehen ist, stellt die Molekularpathologie einen weiteren “Quantensprung” in der Entwicklung der pathologischen Diagnostik dar. So können in der Infektionsdiagnostik Bakterien, Viren oder andere Erreger spezifisch und mit hoher Empfindlichkeit in Gewebeproben nachgewiesen und genotypisch charakterisiert werden. Hieraus resultiert, insbesondere auch für Fragen aus der Gynäkopathologie, die Möglichkeit eines erheblich erweiterten Diagnosespektrums in der klinischen Pathologie.

Abstract

In recent years Clinical pathology has adapted several methods from the field of molecular biology for use in scientific and diagnostic problem solving. The introduction of immunohistochemistry 20 years ago led to immunophenotyping of tissue specimens which today is considered a standard technique. Molecular pathology constitutes the subsequent “quantum leap” in the evolution of histopathology. Thus, in the field of infectious diseases the highly sensitive and specific detection of bacteria, viruses, and other pathogenic microorganisms using conventional tissue specimens has improved the diagnostic work-up. This has resulted – particularly in the field of gynecological pathology – in substantial broadening of the diagnostic spectrum in clinical pathology.
