Abstract
With regard to sociocultural changes and the tendency for women to postpone childbirth as well as improved oncological therapy, oncologists, gynecologists and obstetricians are more often faced with oncology patients wishing to become pregnant after oncological therapy. Some retrospective studies have demonstrated that pregnancy does not have an unfavorable effect on the prognosis and does not increase the risk of cancer recurrence after completed oncological therapy. The risk of fetal malformation or teratogenic effects is also not elevated after completed chemotherapy, radiation or endocrine therapy in comparison to a healthy control group. Patients wishing to become pregnant after completed oncological therapy must be counseled individually with regard to the tumor entity, tumor stage and tumor characteristics.
