Abstract

A 29-year-old gravida 1 in the 22+6/7 weeks of gestation presented with symptoms of an acute abdomen. Abdominal ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed disseminated intra-abdominal masses of uncertain origin. Explorative laparotomy with omentectomy, unilateral adnectomy and tumor debulking (colon) was performed. Histopathological examination revealed benign tumors classified as disseminated peritoneal leiomyomatosis (DPL).

Due to increasing abdominal pain and excessive growth of residual tumors a Cesarean section was necessary in the 28+6/7 weeks of gestation. A spontaneous regression of the DPL occurred postpartum.
