Abstract
Molecular medicine has made substantial contributions to the development of obstetrics over the past 30 years. A number of new diagnostic possibilities and therapeutic approches are being introduced in the fields of prenatal diagnosis and early research in preterm labor and preeclampsia. Looking ahead, molecular medicine in obstetrics requires public, scientific, and medical debate leading to clinical guidance.
