Correction to: Theoretical and Applied Genetics (2014) 127:1123–1131 https://doi.org/10.1007/s00122-014-2284-0

While continuing our quest towards the identification of the labile (lab) locus in barley, we discovered that the previously assigned map location on the long arm of chromosome 5H was wrong. After reevaluating the map location for the lab locus in previous F2s of the cross between HOR2573 (a carrier of the lab locus) × Morex by the first author of the study, Helmy M. Youssef, it turned out that the original result was due to wrongly allocated phenotyping scores. Later, Rajaraman et al. confirmed the new map position in majorly homozygous recombinant inbred lines (RIL, F6) of the same cross. Any mapping information for the Shimabara × HOR5465 could not be retrieved and verified.

In the end, we therefore would like to express our sincerest apologies to the community for such a dire flaw and hope that no one experienced any inconvenience while relying on our erroneously published map data. The correct map location of the lab locus is on chromosome 2H. Further details can now be found here under a citable link by Rajaraman et al. https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.11662437.v3.

Please cite the latter publication in case you refer to the lab locus mapping in the future. All other published data of the paper from 2014, i.e. SEMs and phenotypic descriptions, is correct and thus remained unaffected. All authors have agreed upon the content of the correction note.
