Zusammenfassung
Kasuistik
Abstract
Case report
Three bluish, partly painful, subcutaneous lesions in a 16-year-old boy were resected. The histology showed multiple, disseminated glomus tumors.
Characteristics of glomus tumors
Glomus tumors are rare benign soft tissue tumors, arising from the glomus apparatus. Glomus bodies predominantly control thermoregulation in the extremities. In most cases, glomus tumors occur as solitary tumors in adult women. Multiple glomus tumors only occur in 10 % of cases, particularly in male adolescents.
Therapy of glomus tumors
Radical resection is the treatment of choice. The recurrence rate ranges from 12 to 50 %.
