Neugeborenes mit auffälligem Phänotyp

Zusammenfassung

Ein vermeintlich weibliches Neugeborenes fiel phänotypisch mit Hinweisen auf eine Trisomie 21 und ungewöhnlich ausgeprägtem Genitale auf. Sonographisch wurden kein Uterus, aber 2 hodenartige Strukturen im Eingang der offenen Leistenkanäle detektiert. Aufgrund dieses Befundes sowie der Familienanamnese bestand der Verdacht auf DSD,XY („disorder of sex development“; Pseudohermaphroditismus masculinus). Humangenetisch wurde die Trisomie 21 als Mosaik bestätigt, der Chromosomensatz ist männlich.

Abstract

A newborn child was initially assessed as female, but the external genitalia were abnormal, and the infant had other physical features compatible with trisomy 21. Ultrasound examination revealed no uterus and two testicle-like structures in open inguinal canals. Because of these findings and the medical history of the family we suspected a disorder of sexual development (DSD, XY). Molecular genetic analysis confirmed the diagnosis of trisomy 21 and a male set of chromosomes (47,XY, + 21).
