Abstract
Chronic diseases leading to the retention of bronchial secretion promote the development of pneumonia. Neurological and neuromuscular diseases, stenosis of the tracheobronchial system, as well as chronic pulmonary diseases such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia or cystic fibrosis and rare primary cilia dyskinesia form this group of diseases. In the case of other chronic disease, respiratory aspiration is common, such as in disabled patients or patients with pronounced gastroesophageal reflux. Possible staphylococcal infection should also be considered in antibiotic therapy in such cases.
