Zusammenfassung
Bisherige Beschreibungen von kindlichen Verletzungen im Zusammenhang mit der Benutzung von Rolltreppen beziehen sich meist auf Stürze oder Amputationsverletzungen durch Einklemmung von Händen oder Füßen. Im vorliegenden Fall kam es zum Einklemmen der Jacke eines Kindes in eine Rolltreppe. Die daraus resultierende Thoraxkompression führte zu einer vitalen Gefährdung des Jungen. Das klinische Bild entsprach dem einer Strangulationsverletzung. Der vorliegende Beitrag möchte auf die vielfältigen Verletzungsgefahren auf Rolltreppen hinweisen.
Abstract
Previous descriptions of childhood injuries involving use of an escalator dealt mostly with falls or amputation injuries caused by entrapment of hands or feet. The case reported here occurred when a child’s jacket became entangled in an escalator. The resulting thoracic compression led to endangerment of the boy’s life. The clinical picture was consistent with a strangulation injury. This contribution calls attention to the manifold injury risks posed by escalators.
