Abstract
Drug therapy in the neonatal intensive care unit still presents a day-to-day challenge to the medical team on the ward. Differences in the pharmacokinetics of patients in this age group raise questions concerning the application of drugs, the dosage of drugs, and choice of the right dose interval. Furthermore, a majority of drugs is not approved for use in infants, especially neonates. A project was undertaken to identify problems with drug application or drug therapy in neonatal intensive care, to discuss them, and to find solutions that are easy to put into practice. With the help of concrete examples, some of the practice-oriented solutions are demonstrated.
