Die vorliegende kurze Übersicht verweist auf traumatologische Notfälle, welche ein sofortiges Handeln und fast immer eine unmittelbare Klinikeinweisung erfordern, jedoch insbesondere im häuslichen Umfeld häufig unterschätzt werden.

Vom Grundsatz her muss auch beim “Hausbesuch” mit dem gesamten Spektrum traumatologischer Notfälle gerechnet werden. Dies beinhaltet alle Formen von stumpfen, penetrierenden, thermischen und chemischen Verletzungen, sei es durch ein Unfallereignis, durch Suizid oder Gewaltanwendung verursacht. Hinzu kommen noch eine Vielzahl möglicher Komplikationen nach operativen oder konservativen Behandlungen.
