In den letzten 10 Jahren wurde die konventionelle (offen-chirurgische) Antirefluxchirurgie in den meisten Zentren durch die laparoskopische Technik weitgehend ersetzt. Gegenwärtig können die laparoskopischen Operationen mit der gleichen Sicherheit wie ihre offenen Varianten durchgeführt werden, wobei bewährte Prinzipien der offenen Vorgehensweise in vollem Umfang berücksichtigt werden. Vorteile der laparoskopischen Technik sind die kürzere postoperative Erholungsphase, ein geringerer Schmerzmittelverbrauch und ein besseres kosmetisches Ergebnis. Auch langfristig kann mit einer zuverlässigen Refluxverhütung in etwa 90% der Fälle gerechnet werden
