Ist Antibiotikaprophylaxe bei Liquorrhoe sinnvoll?

Die am meisten gefürchtete Komplikation bei einer posttraumatischen Liquorrhoe ist die Meningitis. Um dieser Gefahr vorzubeugen, wird nach wie vor in deutschen, vor allem Neurochirurgischen und HNO-Kliniken eine Antibiotikaprophylaxe, meist sogar über mehrere Tage oder gar Wochen durchgeführt. Es gibt drei schwerwiegende Gründe, von diesem Vorgehen dringend abzuraten.
