Expiratory vocal cord dysfunction?

Zusammenfassung

Nach der Definition einer Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD) von Wood u. Milgrom dürfen nur inspiratorische bzw. in- und exspiratorische paradoxe Stimmlippenadduktionen als VCD bezeichnet werden. In unserer Arbeit beschreiben wir den Fall einer Patientin, die an rezidivierenden Dyspnoeattacken litt. Hierbei wies die Patientin lediglich einen exspiratorischen Stridor mit einer paradoxen Adduktion der Stimmlippen allein während der Exspiration auf. Eine Literaturrecherche zeigte hinsichtlich des Verlaufs und der Risikofaktoren viele Übereinstimmungen mit Faktoren, die mit einer VCD assoziiert scheinen, sodass wir vorschlagen, auch diese exspiratorische Form einer laryngealen Dysfunktion als Unterform einer VCD zu bezeichnen.

Abstract

Wood and Milgrom defined vocal cord dysfunction (VCD) as paradoxical adduction of the vocal folds during inspiration or during inspiration and expiration. We describe the case of a patient with attacks of dyspnea with an isolated expiratory paradoxical adduction of the vocal folds. A review of the literature reveals many factors associated with VCD. Because of the similar risk factors and order of events concerning VCD, we believe that even expiratory laryngeal dysfunctions could be denoted as subtypes of VCD.
